Francesco de Donatis is a composer for film, television, video games, and trailers, with an international career. He has composed music for feature films, documentaries, short films, and trailers, as well as for over 300 commercials, collaborating with major brands and high-profile productions, including National Geographic and the BBC. His work has received recognition and awards at prestigious international film festivals, such as the Rome Film Festival, the Contursi Film Festival, and the Colorado Environmental Film Festival.

His education includes studies at the Nino Rota Conservatory, the Accademia Chigiana under the guidance of Academy Award–winning composer Luis Bacalov, the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and the University of Salford in Manchester. At the Francesco Venezze Conservatory of Rovigo, he earned a Master’s Degree (Biennio) in Music for Film, a Master’s Degree (Biennio) in Music for Film – Sound Design specialization, and in 2022 a Master in Film Scoring. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Video Game Music at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, further expanding his expertise in interactive audio.

Francesco de Donatis currently works as a film composer for several American production houses and is also Head of Department and Lecturer in Master’s programs in Film Scoring and Film Production. In addition, he teaches Music for Media (Applied Music to Picture) at multiple Italian Conservatories.
